Go "Beyond Therapy" with a Family Path session focused on greater self-awareness and healthier communication.
We are each individuals unto ourselves, whether adult or child. Yet, we are always in relationship. The relationship of family is the deepest and most long-lasting and is often the one that brings up the most stuff to deal with.
Family is a system, with each individual filling a role, playing their part in response and reaction to the others and their roles. Mostly this is done unconsciously, one person reacting off the other, each playing the role they've been assigned and accepted. This unconscious reaction is the root of the difficulty.
Beginning individually, we explore the role each person has taken on and how that has been informed and supported by the system as a whole. In seeing each role as an extension of the system, one sees the beliefs and patterns of behavior for what they are – adaptations of self for the purpose of survival.
As each family member sees the role they play, the fiction dissolves, and together connections are restructured through authentic self-to-self communication.
Session groupings will vary along family path. At times there will be individual sessions, dyad work, and full family sessions. When each role can be individually explored and communication between different pairings in the family are experienced and understood, the nature of the system as whole is witnessed and can begin to shift.
